About
Little Bird Ministry
Eugene Peterson wrote a book called “A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.” I haven’t written a book but if I did it would be called “A Long Struggle for Joyful Obedience.”
Little Bird Ministry is a response to the Holy Spirit that simply wouldn’t leave me alone. When I finally let go of having to have it all figured out and trust the process, Little Bird Ministry began to take shape.
The Little Bird told me… the goal is obedience, a word that Henri Nouwen tells us comes from the Latin word “audire,” which means to listen (Nouwen, Making All Things New, p. 67). If I can listen to the voice of the Little Bird and live into what I hear, maybe, just maybe, I have a shot at finding some kind of obedience.
Little Bird Ministry is about listening and responding, making space for the Holy, the both/and of God; it’s about stepping into the heart of God to let my heart beat to God’s rhythm. I am grateful you are here. May the Little Bird whisper to you… while you are here.
I have loved God my whole life. I have not always done what God asked.
I started working in church in the early 1990s. First as a Christian Educator, and then as a Pastor and Spiritual Director.
When I was called into ordained ministry, I said NO. It took another 12 years before I would finally say YES. It then took another 15 years before ordination became a reality. Spiritual Direction didn’t take as long to say YES to and for that I am grateful. Maybe I am beginning to learn something.
Along the way, I have been blessed with family, friends, and colleagues. I have had my own joys and struggles through marriages, motherhood, divorce, widowhood, and self-understanding. I am thankful for the beautiful community who teaches me, encourages me, inspires me, and cares for me. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.
If I can help through one-on-one spiritual direction, leading a small group in spiritual formation, or leading a retreat, please contact me by filling out the form on my Contact page.
